"PATCHWORK TOTAL DEJA VU"

Very exciting blue blooded Dressage lines wrapped up in a single horse. Aspen is a beautiful, solid girl with huge knees.  She has inherited her mother's flashy trot and appears to be a carrier of ND1, a gene known to mimic characteristics of Dun without actually being Dun. as a young foal she had very prominent leg and shoulder barring and false dorsal. She has clean  straight legs and a bold, brave demeanour.

In 2023, this filly has been lightly started. A handful of rides were started in the stable, then she quickly progressed to walking and trotting laps in the large outdoor arena without any dramas. She is honest, sensitive and sweet. A serious horse for the future - Watch out Young Horse Classes!

SIRE

Aspen is sired by Heath Ryan's up and coming superstar, Drumming R, who boasts a very impressive cross between De Niro (IFS / DEC) and Moorlands Totilas (IFS / DEC), with Rubinstein (IFS / DEC) on the third generation. There are very few Drumming R  foals on the ground currently, and Aspen is the result of the very first service offered to the public in Australia.

Drumming R is by De Niro (IFS / DEC) who is a very common ancestor for a large percentage of Olympic Level horses. De Niro himself was competing at Grand Prix at the tender age of 7 and learned the one-tempi changes in only two days as a six-year-old.  He was famously trainable.  In 2006, De Niro was represented by 14 progeny at the Bundeschampionate, making him the most successful sire. In 2017 and 2018 he was listed as #1 Dressage stallion in the WBFSH standings.

Drumming's damsire is Moorlands Totilas (IFS / DEC). Three world records and three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games. He won Team Gold, Silver in the Special and Gold in the Freestyle at the European Championships in Windsor/GBR in 2009 and set world records in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. In December, Totilas beat his own record in the Freestyle in London/GBR. In 2010, he won the World Cup final in ’s Hertogenbosch/NED. At the CHIO Aachen, he set another world record in the Special: the judges awarded an incredible 28 times the perfect score of 10.0.

DAM

Aspen is out of Woodbury Fisher's Lady, a compact dapple bay mare with one of the most powerful trots we have ever seen. She herself was successful in the Show Ring as well as in lower levels in Dressage prior to her retirement.

Fisher's Lady is by the imported stallion Fisherman's Friend (IMP / DEC) who was  awarded the Hanoverian Horse Society Medium Horse of the Year 2006, Advanced Horse of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, and the EFA (QLD) awarded him Advanced Horse of the Year in 2007 and Reserve Small Tour Champion in 2008. He won all 3 Advanced classes to win the CDI Advanced Championship. He won his first start at Prix St George with 67%. By 2009 Fisherman's Friend was in Grand Prix CDI and remained there for 4 years, averaging scores of 65%.

On Fisher's Lady's damline is Gymnastik Star (IMP / DEC), a dual purpose stallion with progeny at International Level in both Dressage and Showjumping. He has a pedigree which features the fourth generation double cross of the internationally famous Gotthard and Wendekreis, the refinement and elasticity enhancing abilities of the great Cor de le Bryere and the reliability of the highly regarded Werther. His breathtaking movement, rideability and outstanding willingness as a riding horse, combined with his huge jump, resulted in scoring 8s and 9s in the major criteria and culminated in a Performance Class 1 Status in his Stallion Performance Test in Germany – 4th of 33 stallions.

Further back in the pedigree we see Emperor Oberon, who was highly regarded as one of Australia's top Cleveland Bay stallions for his time.
